Stephanie Brooks, MS, RD Stephanie Brooks, MS, RD founded Bay Area Nutrition, LLC in 1999 to provide individuals, families and groups with the most up to date and user friendly nutrition information and guidance. Stephanie has been practicing since 1991 and earned her BS in nutrition and clinical dietetics from UC Berkeley, her MS in nutrition and food science from San Jose State University and a certificate in eating disorders from John F. Kennedy University. Stephanie is a nationally recognized expert in the field of disordered eating and pediatric feeding problems. In addition to her work with individuals, groups and families, she provides training and supervision for nutrition and other professionals regarding various nutrition topics and business development. Stephanie is passionate about her work and loves to see the 'ah-ha' moments when clients start to feel better, have more energy, improve health and find the right balance for them. She practices a "Health at Every Size" philosophy and utilizes a "non-diet/mindful" approach to eating, activity and life balance. Sandy Burton, RD Sandy Burton, RD graduated with a Bachelors degree in nutrition and food science from San Jose State University. She joined Bay Area Nutrition in 2007, providing individual nutrition counseling, specializing in Kidney disease. Sandy has a wealth of experience working with the aged, tube feedings and long term care. She also enjoys providing nutrition education at health fairs and wellness seminars and has a special interest in weight management, cardiovascular diseases and incorporating exercising into your daily life. |

Sara Leung, RD Sara Leung, RD joined Bay Area Nutrition, LLC in 2010 while also working at the Santa Clara County Public Health Department, educating the community on how to make healthy food choices and have fun while exercising. Sara also consults with Cielo House, an intensive eating disorder program. Sara has a "Health at Every Size" approach and incorporates intuitive eating with her clients. In addition to working with clients individually, Sara presents various topics, including speaking to youth on harmful media messages and how they can negatively affect body image and self-esteem. Sara earned her Bachelors degree in nutrition and food science from California State University, Chico and completed her dietetic internship at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Sara's area of expertise includes disordered/emotional eating and body image issues. She strives to work with clients to develop a normal and healthy relationship with food and body. Ramona Lawrence, MS, RD Ramona Lawrence, MS, RD, CDE brings years of experience and expertise to our practice in the areas of diabetes, kidney disease, prenatal and pediatric nutrition. Additionally, she has an interest in heart disease and weight management and is fluent in Spanish. Her past teaching experience makes it easy for her to take complicated nutrition information and explain it so clients can really understand and get the support they need to make changes in their eating. In addition to consulting with Bay Area Nutrition, Ramona works with the Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) of Santa Clara County. She earned her BS from Brigham Young University, her MS in human nutrition and foods from Virginia Tech and her CDE (certified diabetes educator) in 2004. Helen Pak, MA, RD Helen Pak, MA, RD has been consulting with Bay Area Nutrition, LLC since 2004, in addition to working for UC Berkeley's Student Health Services. Helen earned her Master's of Education degree, with an emphasis in Exercise Science, from the University of Alabama and her Bachelor's of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Samford University in Birmingham, AL. Helen's area of expertise includes more than 10 years of working with all types of eating disorders, sports nutrition, weight management, healthy-vegetarian lifestyles, gastrointestinal issues, and hypercholesterolemia. As a certified K-12th grade teacher and college professor, she particularly enjoys working with students of all ages. Helen also has a passion for working with individuals who feel they struggle with emotional hunger and body image issues. She believes in helping clients learn to practice self care and takes a non-diet, realistic approach to weight management. Through Helen's worldwide travels, she has extensive knowledge on various ethnic and religious food preferences and diet concerns. Rebecca Sugumar, MS, RD Rebecca Sugumar, MS, RD joined Bay Area Nutrition to cover our growing South Bay practice in Gilroy. She completed her Didactic Program in Dietetics at San Jose State University and her internship with a concentration in diabetes education. She earned her BS degree in Nutrition, Food Service Management & Dietetics, and her MS degree in Food Science & Nutrition both from the University of Madras, India. Rebecca takes a holistic approach to wellness, and practices evidence based nutrition tailoring nutrition recommendations to each individual. Rebecca is taking intensive training in the area of Maternal and Infant nutrition. She is passionate about helping her clients take baby steps to change their lifestyle towards improved health and well being. She also enjoys providing nutrition education at schools and health fairs. In her spare time she loves to cook and take walks with her family and dog. Lesley Wiley, MS, RD Lesley Wiley, MS, RD earned her Bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley, her Master's degree in nutrition from San Jose State University, and completed her accredited dietetic internship at Stanford University Medical Center. She has experience working with clients of all ages who have experienced struggles with weight concerns, eating disorders, and body image. She previously worked in residential and intensive outpatient eating disorder treatment centers and has experience leading classes in providing skills and knowledge to make healthful lifestyle changes.
